In the beginning when I was starting the construction of my web site I used to think that it will become popular after it is completed. But I was wrong and now also mostly people do the same. There are a lot of different answers, but I will outline a few below and you will find a few more in different posts on my blog.

Hi Joe

Thanks for your comment and it's a good question.

When I first started out I thought all I needed was to build a site and then people would drop by - how wrong I was, I think many of us have started out like that!

Driving traffic is a huge topic and there are a lot of different answers, but I will outline a few below and you will find a few more in different posts on my blog.

First off, you can make sure that your site includes some keywords that people are searching for and that the SEO for your site is good. There is quite a lot of info online about this if you need to know where to start.

Then you can do social networking, with sites like Twitter and bookmarking of posts, with sites such as Digg etc.

Another great way is to write articles and submit them to article directories such as ezinearticles.com, which will point back to your site.

There are many more methods, but I don't have quite enough space here. Maybe let me know what you have tried so far and then I can see if I have any other thoughts. One great place offering lots of free ideas is the Warrior Forum over at http://www.warriorforum.com/ and for more ideas check out http://www.bigskymarketing.net/
