3 Twitter Tools

Following on from yesterday’s post about Twitter I wanted to bring to your attention 3 great Twitter related sites that I find really helpful.

The first comes from Darren Rowse of Problogger fame - and if you are a blogger and haven’t checked out Darren’s blogging site already then you should head over there now. Darren has also created a site all about Twitter called Twitip which is all about , you guessed it ;-) Twitter tips and tricks. Both sites are well worth your attention and provide a huge resource for all things blogging and Twitter related.

The second site I recommend for Twitter users is MyTweeple which allows you to see easily who you are following and who is following you back.

Thirdly, for a little bit of fun, or more if you are quite competitive, then head over to Twitter Grader which allows you to put in your user name and see what your score is depending on the number of your followers, the updates you are making and overall just how you are using Twitter. Don’t take it too seriously but it can be a way of seeing if you can increase your score and also seeing who are the top rated people in your location or country – people that it might just be worth following. My score currently stands at 99.6 and I am going to do all I can to improve it. Competitive moi?! Never ;-)

Well Twitter Me!

If you aren’t using Twitter yet in your online marketing plan then I definitely recommend that you start.

When I first heard about Twitter I just couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about. Why would I want to know what people were doing at odd hours of the day, and more to the point what could possibly be said in a 140 characters or less. I don’t use Facebook or My Space so I really could not see the point of yet another social marketing site.

Oh how wrong I was. The actual joy of Twitter is the brevity of the posts and the ability to interact with a large number of people, but without having to dedicate huge amounts of time to making great long posts – ie like I’m doing here ;-)

In your profile you can have a link to your blog or site and people will drop by and check out what you have to offer. The amount of traffic I am getting from Twitter alone has really surprised me. You can also Tweet about posts that you have made on your blog or Squidoo lenses you have updated – in fact anything you want to promote you can do on Twitter. However, a quick word of warning here. Make your promotions subtle. You don’t want to be going all out on some spam fest and only writing about your marketing endeavours. You should actually interact with people, make friends and have some fun. Not only does this make Twitter much more enjoyable to use but it also makes the marketing efforts that you do put out there, that much more effective.
